Description
The Carneus Damsel is an uncommon variant of one of the most popular aquarium species. Like other Damselfish, Dascyllus carneus is perfect for beginners because they are easy to keep and acclimate well to the home aquarium. Subdued colors let bluish iridescent dots on each scale and hints of yellow along the body reveal themselves to the careful eye.
Food
This fish will readily eat all kinds of live, frozen, and flake foods and algae. Finely chopped meaty foods (like brine shrimp) can be fed regularly. It is best to feed small amounts several times a day. In a reef situation they don't really need to be fed very often at all.
Breeding
Some of the damselfish have been bred in captivity.
Compatible with
Avoid keeping them in an aquarium with Lionfish, Snappers, Groupers, Triggers, Eels or any other predatory fish large enough to eat them.
Note
Due to its aggressive behavior as an adult, it will do well with other aggressive fish in a community tank. It will not harm invertebrates or disturb the tank setting.
